Presentation

Presentation
Château Croix Colombe is located in the "Colombe" district in Brue Auriac. A cross was erected in memory of a daughter of the family.
The bastide was built by Roux de Corse, Marquis de Brue, in the 18th century.
In 1730, he contributed to introducing coffee into France, whose cultivation was then beginning on the islands, and to making Marseille the place of redistribution throughout the Mediterranean basin. His fortune allowed him to buy in 1746 the land of Brue on which he built a small town; he established a silk factory there, cultivated the land, vines and exploited the surrounding forests.
Knight of Saint-Michel in 1749, ennobled in 1750 with the title of Marquis de Brue, State Councilor in 1765, his fortune, his splendor, his generosity had made him the leading figure in Marseille.

Today the 30 hectare Château Croix Colombe is operated by the Décomis family, owners since 1985.
